Enrolling our daughter into American Montessori was one of the finest decisions we made in her education thus far. She attended for 3 years and we were very impressed with the wealth of experience she was able to absorb in that period of time. Thank you American Montessori for your level of dedication to education!

From Our Website
Welcome to American Montessori, we are a true Montessori school with certified AMI/AMS Montessori teachers and qualified childcare development providers from around the world. Over the last 5 years we have prepared over 50+ students that have gone into Gifted and Talented Programs throughout the Twin Cities. American Montessori locations are in beautiful, safe, residential areas providing quality day care. We are an elite small private Montessori school in MN that embraces American heritage and cultural diversity.
Our Montessori Kindergarten program is designed for children 4 1/2 to 6 years old(s) taught by our AMS Montessori teacher, Miss Z. She has been teaching this class for the last 20 years. We offer the kindergarten program to students who wish to continue the Montessori schooling through kindergarten. Over the last 20 years of American Montessori we have had many students graduate and these children are excelling in Math, Writing, Reading, Spelling Bees and are in Accelerated Programs / Gifted and Talented / STEM programs in public and private schools.
Our Montessori Preschool program is designed for children 2 1/2 to 3 1/2 years old(s), taught by our AMI Montessori teacher, Miss Sandy. She has been teaching this class for over 23 years. Our team of Montessori preschool teachers & aides will help with the total development of your child, emotionally, physically, intellectually and socially. A typical preschool day consists of work and play. Play can be indoor/outdoor/or going to the park and is done early morning, before lunch and after afternoon snack.
They start their day out working with Exercises of Practical Life and Sensorial in a group with the teacher and their friends or individually on their own. During this time the Teacher will encourage sharing, taking turns, and show them to put away one Montessori material before working with another. This time also gives them the opportunity to learn social skills and manners by saying please, thank you, etc. Next the teachers will gather the toddlers into a group and have Montessori lessons and presentations.
Our music teacher has been with us for over 10 and has over 20 years of musical experience teaching cello, violin and piano. Our science program will teach children what science is all about. With many experiments and hands on teaching the children will learn all about the wonders of science. Our sports program that we do during the summer will teach the children the fundamental sports training in the following sports, we work with the children and teach them how to work as a team and how to take the time to practice.
We feel honored that you have considered American Montessori as a school for your child. We hope that you have visited other schools and then found that our school is the kind of school that you want your child to attend. At American Montessori your child comes first. We feel that it is a privilege that you will allow us to share in the development and education of your most precious possessions, your children. It is a task, however, that we will not accept fully on our own. The education and well-being of your child will be a task that should be combined.
During June, July and August we continue to offer our excellent programs for public and private school students that are not in session. This includes Kindergarten, 1st grade, 2nd grade and 3rd grade students working together in a mixed environment. Due to limited space of 15 spots, early enrollment for these months are recommended. We still continue to provide excellent programs for Toddlers, Preschoolers and Pre-K during the summer as well. We will also have field trips to museums, nature walks, science projects, computer lab, bike rides and many more activities suited for the children.
Miss Sandy (AMI Montessori) and Miss Zulekha (AMS Montessori) prepare students for Gifted & Talented and Science & Technology programs throughout the Twin Cities. Over the last 20 years we have had more than 100 students that have gone on to Gifted & Talented programs in schools such as Harriet Bishop Elementary and STEM (Science and Technology school in Apple Valley) and other schools like these. We also have field trips, science, computers and many more activities suited for the gifted and talented students.
