From Our Website

BANANAS mission is to partner with families and child care providers to raise happy, confident children. We offer child care referrals and resources to families with young children and child care professionals in the Northern Alameda County cities of Oakland, Berkeley, Albany, Piedmont, Emeryville, and Alameda. If you need assistance with paying for child care, call us to see if you qualify for a subsidy program. We welcome families and child care providers to sign up for our parent education classes, professional development trainings, and playgroups held here at BANANAS and out in the community.

BANANAS is currently seeking dedicated people committed to serving the community by volunteering on BANANAS Board of Directors. We're looking for people with the grassroots style, skills, and experience to help us to expand and improve our programs and resources. If you're passionate about children and early learning, and want to help local working families in gain access to affordable child care, contact us about joining our Board of Directors.

At BANANAS, our goal is to encourage, coach, and support those in the child care field and those who aspire to become child care providers. Through the CCIP (Child Care Initiative Project) program, we are able to assist child care providers in establishing a business and getting licensed, and through the QRIS (Quality Rating and Improvement System) program, we can support providers by offering information on maintaining and improving standards. We also provide educational workshops as well as health and safety trainings, some of which are required for licensing.
