From Our Website

Chickpeas is a parent-run cooperative preschool established in 1981. At Chickpeas, we encourage curiosity, exploration, and discovery. We also emphasize parent involvement, community engagement, and anti-bias curriculum. Chickpeas utilizes a play-based philosophy that allows our units of study to emerge from the interests, actions, and questions of the children. Families are involved in every aspect of the school from administrative tasks to recruiting to the maintenance of the indoor and outdoor space.

Chickpeas is a parent-run cooperative. Of the many things that make Chickpeas unique, none is more important than the deep involvement of parents in our cooperative model. Chickpeas could not function without every family performing coop responsibilities. In the classroom, we welcome family members to share holiday and birthday celebrations with the group, and each Chickpeas family is encouraged to visit the school once a year to engage the children in a family-centered activity, created around any aspect of family life.

We have begun rolling out our admissions decisions for 3s families. The admissions process will take place on a rolling basis over the coming months. To be considered, please complete the application and we will contact you if there are openings in our 3s class. In order to keep our families in one stable pod this year, we opted to have 15 children (the maximum allowed in one room) instead of our usual 20 so that all families can have access to full time childcare if they need it. Because we don't know what the state of the pandemic will be in September, there is a chance that we may still have to abide by the 15 student maximum.

Chickpeas proudly partners with Slope Cellars on this permanent endowment to Chickpeas. Inspired by the tireless and generous efforts of former 107 PTA president Lisa Gorlitsky, for every case of wine a 107 or Chickpeas parent buys, Slope Cellars will donate 3% to the 107 PTA or to Chickpeas. Here's how it works: buying a case of wine you will receive your normal 15% discount. If you say you want to implement the "Gorlitsky Effect for for Chickpeas" Slope Cellars will donate an additional 3% to the 107 PTA or to Chickpeas.
