From Our Website

We have been a vital part of our community for over thirty-five years. Helping a parent find child care, training child care providers on how to create safe environments in which to nurture and educate young children, helping parents bridge the affordability gap with child care subsidies, and coaching parents to be nurturing caregivers to their children, are just a few examples of what we do. We help families to succeed, children to learn, and child care providers to be competent, confident caregivers.

Child Care Referral is a free service accessible to any parent searching for child care, regardless of income. Our child care information specialists are trained in child development and early childhood education, knowledgeable about child care licensing requirements, and can offer expert support and guidance to parents as they search for and select child care. Our specialists can offer you support in selecting child care that's right for you and your child. They provide guidance on how to evaluate the quality of a provider or program.

In 1983, ICES received funding from OCAP to begin the Raising Healthy Families Program in Tuolumne County. This program has recently expanded their year-round parenting classes to two nights a week to meet the growing needs of families in Tuolumne County. Parenting is a tough job and an enormous responsibility. Whether you are a single parent, two-parent family, grandparent, or other relative raising a child, we're here to help you. The Raising Healthy Families Program in Tuolumne County has dedicated staff that support parents and guardians.

On behalf of Tuolumne County's children, the Local Child Care Planning Council is dedicated to promoting and supporting a community-wide effort that results in a high- quality child care system focused on the diverse needs of all our children. All of Tuolumne County's families will have access to high-quality child care offered by well-trained, well-compensated and loving providers. Child care will be provided in a nurturing atmosphere that contributes to the development of individual abilities and personalities.

The workshops provided by ICES Resource & Referral program are open to anyone caring for children and are not county specific. That means that you can register for any workshop regardless of your location. Check out our up-coming events below! Racism and implicit bias are very uncomfortable topics that urgently need to be addressed in our society. In this workshop, we will employ compassion and reflective practice to explore racism in child care, micro-aggressions, and how we can be more mindful of our implicit bias.

Tuolumne County began participating in the Emergency Foster Bridge Program in 2018. The program continues to grow in its capacity to support the resource (foster) families, foster children, and their child care providers. There are three components to this program that are intended to ensure our goals are met. Eligible foster parents in Tuolumne County are referred by the Department of Social Services to the Foster Bridge Navigator at ICES for assistance in securing child care through enhanced child care referrals, subsidy application assistance, planning for long-term child care, and connections to community resources.

Our mission is to support and enrich the lives of children and families. We do this in many ways, and one of those ways is to partner with child care providers! We appreciate the effortsof anyone in child care who recognizes the importance of high quality care for children. ICES offers providers a wide range of supports and services that promote the high quality relationships and environments that children need to develop in healthy and individually appropriate ways. ICES is committed to providing high quality workshops and training in our effort to support child care providers who are invested in offering high quality care to their clients.

You can also call us and we will mail you a form, or you can drop by one of our offices to pick one up. A case manager will review your application, review your documentation and explain more about how we can help. All of ICES's services are free. There is no charge to apply and no charge for our services. However, depending on your income, you may be required to pay a portion of your child care costs, called a "Family Fee." In addition, if you select a child care provider whose fees are higher than the limits set by the state, you will be responsible for the difference between the provider's charges and what ICES can pay, referred to as share of cost.'
