From Our Website
The Learning Center of Dr. Phillips (TLC) is a preschool focusing in early childhood education, with services that include full time, part time and before and after school child care. Our Preschool is located in Orange County, Orlando Florida. We are following the High Scope curriculum and have continued to evolve it to maintain developmentally appropriate practices. Our teachers are experienced professionals, continuously trained to ensure academic proficiency and to maintain up-to-date knowledge in the areas of health and safety.
Our programs are designed around the belief that children must be active agents in the learning process. The TLC environment offers an abundance of "hands-on" material to stimulate exploration and discovery along with the development of social, emotional and cognitive skills. A safe and fully equipped playground offers great opportunities to develop gross motor skills and promote educational play. Our teachers and staff are committed to provide a loving, caring and nurturing environment where we teach children how to learn and that is very similar in nature to the familial atmosphere the children have at home.

The center is always locked and a key number is to be entered on the front door keypad in order to have access to the premises. Smaller children take comfort in TLC's warm, nurturing atmosphere. TLC believes and religiously enforces direct supervision. Our center operates under the recommended DCF teacher to children ratio to allow for better supervision of children and greater safety. Our preschool is constantly monitored to eliminate safety hazards and improve the learning conditions. Only authorized parents and others, as documented in the child's file or on the daily authorization slip, are allowed to pickup the child.
Our staff has various levels of experience and education. Parents can review the biographies of our teachers that are posted on the Teachers Board at school. We are training our teaching staff to teach all age groups. With the Reggio Emilia approach to teaching, our teachers must be competent in teaching from age 2 to age 5, as the teachers remain with their children for the duration of the pre-school years. Together our teachers bring over 100 years of experience. Some teachers have been with us for 17 years and others just got started a year ago.
The Learning Center of Dr. Phillips uses the High Scope curriculum for teaching and the Reggio Emilia Approach to teaching. Perhaps the most difficult lesson any parent or teacher must learn is this: to allow a child to live comfortably in their youthful world and to encourage them to discover and follow their self-chosen paths to knowledge and maturity. Our role is to accompany children on their journey, clearing the path to obstacles and offering encouragement and guidance, not surging to the forefront to lead the way.
