From Our Website

Long committed to quality and excellence, we continually evaluate our programs so that we can provide you and your children with the highest quality care and education possible. We are not only licensed by the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services, achieving 5 stars in their Step Up to Quality program, but were accredited through the National Association for the Education of Young Children (NAEYC) since 1986. North Broadway Children's Center is looking for passionate, hard working, and caring staff members to join our team.

North Broadway Children's Center is committed to offering high quality child care and education to all children and families, regardless of race, faith, creed, national origin, economic status, disability, or family composition. Our play-based program provides a developmentally appropriate environment, respects each child as an individual, and encourages their natural curiosity of learning. NBCC was started in 1954 as an outreach ministry of North Broadway United Methodist Church. Since that time, NBCC - with the support of the church - has grown from a one classroom part time preschool to the many programs that we offer now.

The Honeybee Room believes in a play-based curriculum where we enhance the children's learning with daily special activities designed to meet specific interests and developmental stages. Our activities fall into three major categories: Body - which includes gross motor/large muscle activities; Mind - which includes hand-eye coordination, fine motor development, sensory, and literacy ideas; and Spirit - which encourages social and personal development. We promote teacher-child communication, as well as language development, through the use of simple sign language.

The Butterfly Room employs a true emergent curriculum. Teachers observe and engage children in conversation, building lesson plans and projects around their interests. This approach allows for purposeful and meaningful learning for each individual child. We value family involvement and create a shared relationship. In addition, the teachers work with the children on fostering early social skills. The children in the Butterfly Room learn through play, exploration, and experimentation. Mistakes and messes are a natural part of this process and make their experiences more meaningful and educational.

North Broadway Children's Center is a non-profit corporation and the Board of Directors is the governing board for the center. The Board of Directors is composed of interested persons from the center, church and community. Board members include parents of NBCC children, the NBCC Director, an NBCC staff representative, the Senior Pastor of the church, NBUMC congregation members, and community members. As the governing board for NBCC, the Board of Directors provides support to the administration of the Children's Center in order to better meet the needs of the population it serves.

Our Part-time Preschool program offers children a chance to explore friendships, drama, music, movement, art, language, science and more in a group setting. Our play-based, emergent curriculum allows us the opportunity to offer the children a variety of activities based on their interests and developmental levels. We also assist children with learning to work in a group setting, using language to interact with their friends and to constructively resolve their differences. The four teachers in this program have a combined total of over 75 years of experience, most of it right here at NBCC!

The Teddy Bear Room is our Parent's Day Out program. This is set up for toddlers to have a chance to discover the world outside of their home. Through their play, we provide children with the flexibility to experiment, grow, and discover without the fear of failure. Our energetic, loving teachers, provide your child with a nurturing, fun environment and wonderful first school experience. You can choose Mon/Wed/Fri, Tues/Thurs or all five mornings a week. This is a 9-month program that runs from 9:00 - 11:30 am, September throughMay.
