OUR HISTORY: Rainbow Child Development Center was established in 1972 in Plumley Village, a housing development in Worcester for low-income families. In 2004, the Center purchased the building that had once housed the Edward Street Day Care Center. After completing the 1st stage of renovations, Rainbow moved to its new home in March 2005.

From Our Website
Rainbow Child Development Center transforms the lives of at-risk children and their families by providing quality educational and therapeutic programs and services. Collectively, we are creating pathways for children and families to succeed. Rainbow is extremely grateful and appreciative of our partners' sustained dedication. Together, we continue to provide children and families numerous positive opportunities and experiences that have a lasting effect. Rainbow offers the following customized programs listed below to children throughout the year to enhance their knowledge, increase their strengths, support a healthy lifestyle and enhance their self-esteem!
Infants and toddlers enjoy all the comforts of a home in an educational, safe, licensed setting and so much more! Rainbow's Family Child Care (FCC) Educators are entrusted with a parent's most precious treasure, namely their infant or toddler. Rainbow's Educators are very sensitive to how difficult and challenging it is for mothers and fathers to adjust to having someone else care for their infant or young toddler while they are at work. Rainbow's Educators provide high quality, developmentally appropriate care and support to facilitate the maximum potential of each young child.
Volunteers are special people. Whether it is coming into a classroom or our after school program and reading to the children, playing a board game, having a conversation with a child, teaching a special craft, helping with homework or providing tutoring assistance, or helping a teacher set up activities for play, your presence makes a difference in the lives of our children.
Rainbow Child Development's Preschool educates 64 preschool children in a diverse, nurturing environment that is language based, infused with meaning, purpose and exploration. Preschool teachers provide an active learning environment that encourages children to explore, discover, create, problem solve, socialize and express their feelings while building self-esteem and achieving age appropriate milestones. Teachers facilitate specific activities that support skill building in areas critical to prepare young children to successfully transition to kindergarten.
