The Robert E. Simon, Jr. Children's Center is designed to meet the emotional, social, physical, and intellectual needs of children in a safe, child-oriented environment. The center is a non-profit corporation created to meet the childcare needs of the community. Each child is unique. Our childcare philosophy accommodates the developmental stages of every child. The center respects each individual and allows for flexibility and choice. Children learn best through organized and free play. We promote and support active, developmental learning through play.
Simon Center offers great benefits including medical and dental insurance, a 401K with employer match, competitive pay and a generous tuition discount for children at the Simon Center. The Simon Center is an equal opportunity employer. After receiving your application the center director will schedule an in-depth personal interview. Our kindergarten class is designed to mirror the hours and structure of a typical school day. Regular hours for a kindergarten day are 8:30 AM to 3:30 PM Monday through Friday. Before and after care is also available. Our school day includes a morning breakfast snack, as well as a hot lunch each day by our local caterer, Good Foods. Our kindergarten is 100% in-center. Our goal is to not only prepare children for the academic piece of entering school, but also focusing on their social and emotional development so they are prepared in all areas.
Robert E. Simon, Jr. Children's Center preschool classes have learning centers spread out around the rooms. The children are encouraged to explore, experience and freely choose activities to foster their development in all these areas. A positive sense of self is the foundation for all later learning and success in life. Our teachers design activities that help develop a confident self-image, a strong sense of self-worth and an understanding of their place in society. As the preschoolers become more self-sufficient, we encourage their understanding of basic life skills with daily opportunities to display their growing independence.
Robert E. Simon, Jr. Children's Center infant classrooms include open play spaces, low shelves and stimulating toys to explore - all designed for hands-on learning in a child-friendly, safe environment. The infants enjoy musical instruments, picture books, textured toys, time spent outdoors, challenging movement activities, small group times and always a lap to sit on and teacher to hug. Infants are active, sensory learners. Our teachers provide daily sensory activities, equipment designed to challenge infants' motor skills and social experiences that will enhance their learning opportunities.
As a full-day preschool program, we provide a catered cold breakfast, a hot lunch and a light afternoon snack. We also accommodate children with various food restrictions, including a daily vegetarian lunch as an option. While our families are not required to volunteer hours to the center, there are many opportunities to become more involved. Formal opportunities include serving as a member of our parent-led board of directors or becoming a classroom ambassador. Less formal opportunities include reading to your child's class, assisting with fundraising events, assisting the center with your unique talents and countless other ways.
Robert E. Simon, Jr. Children's Center Pre-K program helps your children explore and choose activities that are interesting and challenging to them. We have music, computers, gross and fine motor activities, plants and animals, sensory, books, dramatic play, blocks, art, science, woodworking and math centers for active learning through play. Our staff members plan both group and individual activities to help your children develop as they get ready for kindergarten. Our Pre-K program focuses on the acquisition of real-life and self-help skills while the children learn to socialize with their peers.
