From Our Website

The main objective of Stepping Stones Educational Center, Inc. is to provide youngsters from age twelve months to twelve years with an environment to foster their natural curiosity. We feel that the early years in a youngster's development are some of the most important ones and that children should have a chance to reach their fullest potential. We understand that parents do not place their children in a daycare facility because it is the thing to do, but because they have to. It is our intention to make this transition as easy as possible on both the parents and the children.

We believe that each child is unique with his or her own learning style. Our thematic based program is carefully structured to maximize each child's potential and enrich their creativity. We understand the importance of literacy at an early age, making it one of our primary focuses. Our woodland setting allows students to experience nature, science, and the environment by exploring our nature trails, vegetable and flower gardens and wetlands. Our formal Nursery School is a separate program, open to those just attending the Nursery School while offering the convenience and flexibility of our excellent day care to those who wish to take advantage of it.

We will again be offering three-day programs meeting Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. Our summer camps will include three different groups of children. The morning sessions (9:00-11:30); will be for children 12-36 months of age and 3 to 5 years of age. The afternoon sessions (12:30-3:00); will be for children entering Kindergarten through fourth grade. We will participate in sessions 1 and 2, each session lasting two weeks. Eligible swimmers must be at least 4.5 years old and entering Kindergarten in the fall.

Our toddlers will spend much of their day exploring the world around them and will have plenty of opportunities to make choices of their own. With close guidance of their educator, the toddlers will learn communication and socialization skills, all while developing their fine and gross motor abilities. We will focus on self help skills such as self feeding, proper hand washing, and communicating our needs and wants. Tuesday and Thursday morning will be spent as a structured class time, as we begin to introduce the young toddler to a traditional nursery school program; this is sure to be an exciting time.

Our Pre-K program is designed specifically for those children who will be five by January and who may benefit from an enrichment year before entering Kindergarten. Rather than repeating a year of Nursery School, this program broadens their knowledge base while strengthening scholastic and positive social skills. The hallmark of this program is it's small class size allowing for individual instruction and one-on-one time. Pre-K follows our thematic curriculum in a two year cycle, allowing returning students to explore new topics.
